PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Opportunity

We want to introduce the Sharp Grossmont Hospital PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program as we enter our fifth year as an ASHP-accredited program. Sharp Grossmont Hospital is the largest not for profit full service acute care hospital in the region, covering the east county of San Diego, California, with a service area of over 750 square-miles. A comprehensive stroke center, a state-of-the-art emergency room, heart and vascular center and orthopedic service line offers quality, innovative, and comprehensive medical programs to the population.

Sharp is composed of passionate and experienced preceptors whose mission is to improve the health of those we serve and continue to advance the field of pharmacy with our clinical programs. These clinical programs include pharmacy to dose protocols with certification in pharmacokinetics, anticoagulation, renal dosing, and antibiotic surveillance. The transitions of care program incorporates meds-to beds, aimed to ensure each patient has proper medication reconciliation/consultation prior to discharge.

The hospital’s Emergency and Critical Care Center is amongst the most technologically advanced in the nation. It is home to one of the busiest emergency departments in California, serving 105,000 patients annually, with 24/7 ED (Emergency Department) pharmacist coverage. Furthermore, we offer elective rotations such as cardiology, and peri-operative services, giving an opportunity for residents to expand their acute care knowledge.
