Legislative Day Events – 

Event 1:

COS Luncheon – Legislative Day Preparation

Date: 01/25/2023, 12 pm – 1 pm

NCPA and APhA will be hosting a COS luncheon in the Skaggs Auditorium to help students prepare for Legislative Day the following week. Adam Jones from UPhA will give a presentation on pharmacy-related bills that will be discussed during this legislative session, as well as give tips on how to contact your state representatives and senators. Jayme Garcia from Smith’s will give a training for those who wish to participate in the health screenings (cholesterol, blood pressure, and glucose checks) at the event. If you plan on conducting health screenings at Legislative Day, this training is MANDATORY to attend. Contact Kortney Parker with any questions about signing up for health screenings.

Please note: This event is open to anyone who is thinking of attending Legislative Day, but it will NOT count as a co-curricular activity, since Legislative Day itself will be the co-curricular. 

Event 2:

Pharmacy Legislative Day on Capitol Hill

Date: 2/1/2023, 9 am – 3 pm

Pharmacy Day on Capitol Hill is a fantastic opportunity for students to mingle with other pharmacy professionals, learn about the problems facing pharmacy today, and advocate for our field on a state level. Pharmacy students from the University of Utah and Roseman will be presenting research posters and conducting health screenings to facilitate interactions between pharmacy professionals, legislators, and other members of the public. The event runs from 9 am to 3 pm, however you are not required to attend the full session. Come when you can and enjoy this day of pharmacy advocacy!
