Your Key Responsibilities:

1. Pharmacy Operations:

  • Manage day-to-day pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with regulations while maintaining efficiency.
  • Help monitor inventory, conduct audits, and work to reduce waste while optimizing stock levels.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and wholesalers to ensure timely medication deliveries and maintain accurate records.
  • Learn about and apply compliance requirements of federal 340B program.

2. Medication Dispensing & Patient Care:

  • Accurately interpret and dispense prescriptions in accordance with laws and regulations.
  • Perform regular medication reviews, checking for drug interactions and ensuring the most appropriate treatment plan for each patient.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate patient records, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Administer immunizations under established protocols.
  • Provide expert consultations to patients and their families, helping them understand their medications, potential side effects, and over-the-counter options.
  • Offer excellent customer service and resolve any medication-related issues with professionalism.
  • Enhance patient care and optimize medication therapy by collaborating with healthcare teams in clinics right next to the pharmacy.

 3. Training & Education:

  • Benefit from mentoring and training opportunities from experienced pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Keep up with licensure and hospital education requirements, growing your knowledge and skills along the way.

4. Community Engagement:

  • Represent Portal Pharmacy in community outreach events and educational programs, helping to strengthen relationships within Moab and the surrounding areas.
  • Work with local healthcare providers and community members to promote the pharmacy’s services and contribute to the overall health of the community.

What We’re Looking For:

Required:

  • A recent graduate from the University of Utah College of Pharmacy.
  • Active, unrestricted Utah pharmacy license (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Licensure to dispense controlled substances in Utah (or eligibility).
  • Strong communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office and pharmacy software, and a desire to learn.
  • A self-motivated team player with a strong commitment to patient care.
  • Eagerness to learn about pharmacy operations, financials, and regulatory compliance.

Preferred:

  • Previous internship or work experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
  • APhA Immunization Certification (or the willingness to obtain).
  • Interest in pharmacy management or leadership development.
