FAFSA Changes 2024-2025

If you are interested receiving financial aid for the 2024-25 school year, be aware there are substantive changes coming to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Due to these changes, the FAFSA will open in December 2023 which is at least two months delayed from the typical open date of October 1.

The U.S. Congress changed the FAFSA in order to make it simpler and easier to complete, and it changed the formula to determine eligibility for financial aid as well. The formula changes will likely expand eligibility for many students. Because details are still emerging, the University Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid (UOSFA) plans to offer webinars and provide assistance with FAFSA questions in the coming weeks.
