Division of Public Health is offering a few elective courses

The Division of Public Health is offering a few elective courses that are still open for enrollment! We’d love to have your students join us.

PBHLT 6220 – Public Health Nutrition (Mon 1PM – 4:30 PM)
Provides students with a working knowledge of the U.S. food system, food and nutrition policies and programs, and community nutrition program development. Students will use evidence-based nutrition epidemiology research to equip themselves to address critical issues in public health nutrition. Special emphasis will be placed on nutrition programs and policies for maternal and child health, and chronic disease prevention.

PBHLT 6340 – Infectious Disease Epidemiology (Mon/Wed 10:30AM – 11:50AM)
Provides an overview of the foundation of epidemiologic methods used in assessing the phenomena of infectious disease from a public health perspective.

PBHLT 7410 – Health Policy/Leadership (Tu/Th 10:30AM – 11:50AM)
Provides a comprehensive overview of federal, state, and local governments’ roles in developing and implementing health policies, including public health, health insurance coverage, health information technologies, and comparison and collaboration with the private sector. Health policies in select foreign countries will be studied to facilitate a basis for international comparisons. Students will also be presented with strategies and skills for effective health leadership, including hearing from individuals who are currently leaders in health policy, or have experience in such positions, and will learn of common characteristics considered essential to influence effective health policy.

Don’t let these wonderful opportunities to learn pass by! Each course is 3 credits each. If students have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out to Abby Holdaway at abby.garlock@utah.edu. Thank you.
